A curated selection of my most recent works as an illustrator.

The Children’s Forest / University of Turku

In 2023 I was hired as an artist for The Children’s Forest – Wandering with The Forest Preschool research project. The on-going research explores the meanings children find in the forest and the forest preschool activities. The researcher Sara Sintonen spent 23 days in the forest with the forest preschoolers, collecting a vast body of ethnographic data. During the data collection phase my job was to go through the research data and publish illustrated short-stories based on the material.

I managed the research project’s social media accounts. Along with the short-stories I shared captivating and thought-provoking quotes and reels from the research data.

The Great Big Terrible Troll / Toran Press

Hare, Fox and friends are convinced something scary is hiding in a mysterious pile of snow.
Worry Gives A Small Thing A Huge Shadow is the phrase that inspired this delightful tale set in the frozen lands of Norway. Hare, Fox and friends discover that not everything is as it seems, and that worry can make a minor problem seem much bigger.

The Great Big Terrible Troll was published in 2023 by Toran Press. I really enjoyed the creative process of making this book with the author Alan Durant, designer Sophie Burdess and publishing editor Nicola Deschamps.

Growing Light / Lapua Art Museum

In 2022 I took part in Nalle ja kello -illustration exhibition at Lapua Art Museum. I exhibited a pair of large ink paintings, Growing Light I and Growing Light II.

One was printed on high quality wallpaper and the other was mounted onto an aluminium composite frame.

Growing Light series addresses the union between shadow and light.

Korso Illustration / Korson aseman puoti

I had the honor to design an illustration of my home town for Korson aseman puoti,
a picturesque little boutique at the heart of Korso.

Phenomenon-based Learning Cards / City of Helsinki

I designed and illustrated Phenomenon-based Learning Cards for City of Helsinki. It was a nice personal challenge to design something for a strong brand with a set visual identity.
